Media
for Peace
It is a group of journalists that has, since its inception, worked for
the construction of a culture for peace. Media for Peace is an initiative
designed to promote training and thinking, gather information and produce
tools of the profession. It was conceived by journalists for journalists
who, in a country at war like Colombia, are responsible for covering the
widespread internal armed conflict and the incipient peace negotiations. Freedom of the Press Foundation The Freedom of the Press Foundation (FLIP) was created in 1996 with the
aim of contributing to the survival of free press, and ensuring that free
access to sources of information, and the protection of the life and integrity
of journalists, as well as the practice of their profession, are guaranteed.
As regards the defense of the fundamental rights of journalists, the foundation
provides help to the judicial and administrative authorities and the police,
to ensure that the life and integrity of journalists are protected, and
violations do not remain unpunished. It has also held forums, seminars
and other educational activities to draw attention to situations and events
relating to the protection or violation of the fundamental rights to a
free press and free information. Arrangements are now under way for the
entry of the foundation into IFEX (International Freedom of Expression
Exchange) with headquarters in Toronto, Canada.
Press Club Colombian Association It is a pluralistic organization founded in 1998 in Bogotá by a group of social communicators and journalists, as well as press attachés, foreign correspondents and prominent journalists, social communicators and other professionals of this field. With a current membership of 100, it was created with the aim of providing representation and a channel of integration, promoting the professionalization of journalism, and contributing to the social welfare of its members and their families. The Press Club organizes training, updating, integration and recreational activities. It defends freedom of expression and the right to information, enshrined in the National Constitution. To this end, the press club has established mechanisms for the interaction with other national and foreign associations, or any other party that may require its assistance. |
